This is a full day mushroom foraging course going into more depth than our fungus walks. It is still however, suitable for beginners who want to know more about identifying wild mushrooms / fungi. While a foray to look for fungi is still part of the day, it is one component of a full programme including talks, workshops and an identification quiz!
Our approach is not just to show you lots of species and tell you what they are, but to get you to understand why they are a particular species and how to identify them using simple tools. We have a permit from the Forestry Commission to run educational mushroom events in The New Forest. In line with the terms of our permit, this is NOT a trip to gather the biggest haul of edible species possible but is about giving you identification skills and teaching you sustainable, safe and legal practices.
