Just to say how much Rox and I enjoyed our day with you on Saturday. We felt we learnt a lot and are armed with a new degree of mushroom confidence – overlaid you will be pleased to hear, but some healthy caution !!

James was an informative and entertaining instructor, guiding us in the identification and use of spring greens. The lunch of nettle soup and wild garlic frittata was excellent. I would look forward to taking part in a future course and would have no hesitation in recommending the course to others.
For me this was a perfect introduction to foraging. The level was exactly right and every aspect of the day was interesting. I can’t think of how it could have been improved. Excellent company, clear, insightful and knowledgable tuition, with a fun and friendly atmosphere. I went out on a walk the next day and found all this green stuff growing that I picked and ate which I’d never realised was there. Thank you.

Just a quick note to say thanks again for a fantastic two days. We learnt a lot, in a very enjoyable way, and now feel much more confident identifying and eating things. Your approach to the idea of foraging is excellent – showing us things that can easily be identified and are actually nice to eat, rather than giving us millions of latin names. It was plain you had done your homework and knew the spots you were taking us to. The whole thing was very professional.
Thank you James for a thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring day. The course was exactly what we needed and has given us confidence to start foraging ourselves. We have since made several meals with food on our doorstep and has inspired us to keep learning. We have ordered some of the books you suggested. We now can’t go out for a walk without spotting food everywhere. We are amazed at how our relationship with our environment has been enhanced. We have spread the word about the course and fully intend to attend further courses, great value for money a real life changer thank you so much!
Both Elva and Jane would like to thank you for the wonderful day they had on Saturday. Having never been foraging they were a little apprehensive about how much they might enjoy the day, your well organised and enjoyable course put those fears to rest, they both were particularly happy that you went that extra step to accommodate them by preparing all vegan recipes. I can tell you that they are both looking forward joining you again on the Fruit and Nut course this September.
Great day unusual birthday present so was a bit apprehensive but we will use foraging in the future. Hopefully will do the nuts and berries in September. Would highly recommend this course. Very interesting day and met some nice people.

A really comprehensive introduction. James is an enthusiastic and articulate naturalist with a wide knowledge and an easy manner.
It was a great birthday gift for my husband who is really interested in learning more about foraging. James was very knowledgeable about all sorts of different aspects of plant and food foraging and the afternoon we spent on the beach was well worth the money. Loads of fresh air and good fun too. What more could you ask for as a birthday treat?

Learnt loads, also liked the other aspects you covered on safety. Oli particularly loved catching razor clams and I loved it all !! will see the seashore in a whole new way. We are already spotting some of the things we were shown on the course in places near us. Also the soup at the end was 10/10

Thank you for a superb Fungi walk, what a packed day! Greg and I learnt so much and it was fantastic to have the opportunity to taste the mushrooms at the end of the walk. We found the whole experience both interesting and informative and were amazed at your vast knowledge. We would not hesitate to recommend the day out.
Oliver and I enjoyed the day enormously and really don’t think it could have been improved upon in any way. You were relaxed as you were informative, and we certainly came away considerably more knowledgeable than we arrived. As you could probably tell, Ollie is a genuine mushroom/wild food lover, and the only downside is that I am now being perpetually nagged to find the nearest mushroom bearing wood and thoroughly explore it for fungal potential!
All in all, a really enjoyable, well organised and fascinating walk in the woods. Thank you for a super day. We will certainly be back to explore and learn more.

Thanks so much. We loved it….so much so that despite being soaked we stopped again a bit further along the road and went searching some more……we found Oyster Mushrooms, lots of Amethyst Deceivers and a huge cauliflower fungus!

Thanks James for the seaweed foraging experience today, enjoyed every minute, great place on a sunny day with a great group of people, some serious seaweed airing going down tomorrow, in fact bit of a seaweed fest tomorrow, going for the sea lettuce, peppery dulse with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for a decadent brekkie, crispy seaweed for lunch some seaweed crisps to snack on in between and you must give me that miso soup recipe we tried today, thanks again!

It was a most enjoyable day, well paced and interesting and I certainly learned a lot about the diverse world of fungi.
We all had a brilliant afternoon with you and learnt so much. Thank you so much! How lucky we were with the weather too. On Sunday we made sea beet soup for lunch and played around making seaweed crisps too – great fun! I really love the sea beet and hope to find some more of it.

You pitched the day exactly right – I came away knowing quite a few more plants that I can eat and I will remember what I learned because it was relaxed with plenty of time to absorb the information. Just a short note to say thank you for a very informative day last Saturday, I really enjoyed it. When I returned home the family were keen to know what I picked and had eaten so you can imagine the comments from the small grandchildren when I told them I had made and eaten nettle soup amongst other things. I suppose I will just have to make it for them before they will really believe that you can eat nettles!

Thank you for another great course James! Really good fun and very informational. I would highly recommend to others. We took the razor clams home we collected during the course and ate them shortly after – very tasty. We will be heading back to the beach now we know how to collect them!

Thank you James for a fantastic walk yesterday for Sarah’s Hen weekend. It was great to find so many edible plants that we usually just walk past without knowing how delicious they can be. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the whole experience was a delight. James is a relaxed and confident tutor, very passionate and knowledgeable about foraging in harmony with protecting the natural habitat. Involving the group in collecting ingredients for our 3 course lunch made everything relevant. I would thoroughly recommend this course, and will view the “weeds” in my garden in a whole new light!
An excellent and fun course! Was very refreshing to spend the day outside (in the sun!) learning about foraging. I was surprised how good the lunch was and I’m now excited about using foraging for myself and cooking in the future. It was great to meet James and learn from his foraging experience. A wonderful course, James is extremely knowledgeable and taught with humour and a touch of caution for those of us unused to mushroom foraging. A MASSIVE thanks to you from Alison and I – yesterday was utterly awesome, despite attempts by Portland to put us off with driving rain – we are made of tough stuff. The cooking was brilliant, and certainly opened my eyes. We are down in Cornwall with our sons in July, so will be putting your knowledge into practice.
